Year End Update

2022 was a busy year for Open World Solutions (OWS) assisting organizations to develop and improve global learning opportunities. Some highlights from the year:

Strategic Planning- Institutions sought out OWS services as they looked to review and refresh their strategic plans.  OWS assisted with needs assessments and landscape analyses, as well as facilitating workshops with the Board and Executive Leadership,  to develop high level road maps and detailed plans based on measurable goals and KPIs.

Designing Global Learning Opportunities- OWS assisted institutions to scope out new global higher education institutions and programs to better serve students from around the globe.  OWS both helped organizations to assess the market environment for new programs and make concrete recommendations for new initiatives.

J-1 Visa Regulations- OWS experts provided workshops on J-1 regulations and SEViS, both as a refresher to seasoned staff and to new visa officers.  We provide ongoing coaching as well as serving as an "on call" resource in emergency situations to help organizations navigate through complex situations.

International student/scholar advising- With the advising knowledge base and support levels at international student/scholar offices so heavily impacted by staff transitions during the pandemic, OWS has partnered with our clients to coach and train new advisors particularly in the area of crisis management, including responding to physical and emotional health emergencies and natural disasters impacting campuses.

Data Oversight and Knowledge Management- OWS supported clients to navigate the ever-changing data privacy environment, including GDPR and NIST 800-171 adoption.  We take a holistic approach with our clients, seeing data management as the foundation of a larger strategy of preserving institutional knowledge to enable the organization to "tell its story" and output statistical reports in a manner that is strictly compliant with data privacy regulations.

Happy Holidays!
